Protecting your medical practice’s computers is of the utmost importance — after all, computers are now used for everything in the medical industry, from ordering supplies to maintaining patient records. Here’s how you can detect malware, spyware, adware and viruses quickly (and for free) with a program developed by a top IT company specializing in healthcare.
Malwarebytes free is an excellent starting point to help you keep adware, viruses, malware, and other harmful programs from infecting your healthcare facility’s computers. Even when you provide your team with excellent education about what could be a malicious program, it’s inevitable that something gets accidentally clicked on or downloaded that could pose a threat to your computer. Malwarebytes is a free program that is easy to install and utilize on each of your facility’s computers and is an excellent first step to solid protection.
Step One: Google Malwarebytes Free
Google “Malwarebytes Free” and you’ll see a Google page of search results pop up. At the top, click on the link that says “Download.” This will route you to the main download page for the program.
Step Two: Choose Your Malwarebytes Program
Malwarebytes Free is available for Mac, PC, Android, and iOS devices. Select the type of device you’d like to install the program to proceed with the download. While most of your facility computers will likely be either Mac or PC, you may want to consider protecting company-issued smartphones with the program too. Many healthcare employees, particularly physicians, use their smartphones to do a great deal of work using their smartphone both on and off hours. This is especially true for physicians who are on call. Be sure to download Malwarebytes Free for every device used within your healthcare facility for complete base protection from adware, malware, spyware, and viruses.
Step Three: Start the Download
Once you download the program for your Mac or PC, you’ll need to find the downloaded file. In a Firefox browser, it will be in the top right corner with a button that has a blue arrow pointing down. For Chrome browsers, the download will pop up in a bar at the bottom of the browser. Once you find the file’s location on your computer, right-click and select the “run as administrator” option. You will need to enable Malwarebytes to make any changes to your computer to install the program.
Step Four: Scan Your Computer
Once the program is downloaded, you’ll see a new Malwarebytes icon on your desktop. Open the program and click “scan now” to begin scanning for viruses, malware, and more. This can take anywhere from three to ten minutes to complete. You can quarantine threats should the program detect them.
