What Does The MACRA Program Mean For Your Practice?
CMS released the final ruling for the MACRA program (The Medicare Access and CHIP Reauthorization Act of 2015) on October 14th. This program will change the way providers are reimbursed for their Medicare payments. The new payment model is designed to be a transitional step from the current fee for service model into a quality based payment system. MACRA will combine the current PQRS and Meaningful Use programs into an APM or MIPS platform. The MIPS platform will score clinician performance in several areas with a focus on quality of care. Successful participation in MIPS will rely on an effective healthcare IT system including carrying over the privacy and security objectives from Meaningful Use.
